Lumen engine

Cinematic depth of field.

Rack focus with one slider; see focus zones in blue, green and orange before you render.
Clean Edges: no halo on hair, foreground never bleeds into background.
Spherical, anamorphic or any image as the aperture. Soft, Physical or Boosted highlight response.

Best for: narrative, interviews, product shots — anywhere the subject must stay sharp.

Halo engine

Highlights bloom into light.

Bokeh Bias from soap-bubble rings to soft cores; negative curvature gives star apertures.
Squeeze X / Y and Iris Angle: ovals, capsules, tubes. Any image is an aperture — hearts, stars, your logo.
Depth-aware glow in up to 16 depth steps, with protected edges.

Best for: night city, concerts, fairy lights, music videos.

Iris engine

Every blade, every angle.

Polygonal iris: blade count, blade curvature, rotation — the classic camera-lens-blur look, on the GPU.
Lens diffraction ring and anamorphic ovals with streaks, even on dark footage.
Focus from any map; preview it in green and red.

Best for: motion graphics, titles, product and macro.

Focus from any map.

Depth from DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, AI depth tools or a 3D render — any grayscale works.

Auto Focus finds the nearest subject the moment a map is connected.
Focus Plane and Focus Band set the sharp zone; keyframe one slider for a rack focus.
The Focus Zones overlay shows near, sharp and far live in the viewer.
Snap Depth to Edges fits a soft AI map to the real contour of the subject.
Clean Edges and layered occlusion: no halo on hair, no foreground bleeding into the blur.
Subject Matte input for an alpha from a tracker or keyer.

Questions before you buy.

Does it work without a depth map?

Yes. Without a map it's a lens blur with real apertures and bloom. Add a map and it becomes depth of field with focus controls.

Where do I get a depth map?

DaVinci Resolve's Depth Map effect, After Effects, AI tools such as Depth Anything, or a Z-pass from your 3D app. Any grayscale clip works.

How do I connect the map in Final Cut Pro?

Click the Depth Map drop zone in the inspector, select the depth clip in the browser and press Apply Clip. In Motion, drag the layer into the Depth Image well.

Intel Macs?

No. Bokeh Studio is Metal-only and requires Apple Silicon (M1 or newer), macOS 13 or later.

Final Cut Pro and Motion both?

Yes, one license covers both. Premiere, Resolve and After Effects are not supported.

Is it real-time?

Fast mode is built for editing and scrubbing; Full mode is for the final render.

How many Macs?
